Technological Advancement and Use

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of contstructing this product?

Before coming to this course I was pretty knowledgable about technology. I used to make videos for YouTube so I had knowledge in Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Pro. I could code basic webpages using HTML/CSS and I knew how a computer worked so I initially thought I wouldn't be able to learn very much more and it would be a breeze. But forunately it wasn't as simple as that.

OSX

I've always only owned computers with the Windows OS installed on them so using OSX was quite a struggle for me. It felt too difficult to do anything which on a computer running Windows would be a few clicks. Getting used to the keybard with their command button took a while. To improve my knowledge with the OS I just simply gained experience and learning "on the job" as I had to use a Mac every Media lesson, Also using google to look up key-combos for things like how to take a screenshot.

Final Cut Pro

As I said beofre I had used Premiere Pro to edit videos before now so I was pretty confident coming to another video-editing software with transferrable skills. Unfortunately those skills were not very transferrable. A lot of things in that program work very differently to what I'm used to. Me and Aidan both found it challenging but we helped each other along by teaching one of us teaching the other something that they'd learnt that the other possibly hadn't. So again it was just out of experience the way I learnt how to use Final Cut Pro. We all sat down and had an explore around the program to see how different tools affected different aspeccts of the project.

Garageband

In our group I was assigned to make the music for our OTS as I've had previous experience making music from doing GCSE Music. I had never used Garageband before but similair products so I had a rough understanding of how to use these kinds of programs .
