Who would be the audience for your media product?
The target audience for a film depends on a number of things. This can be things like: What actors are in it, how the characters are represented., the genre of the film, the director and the age rating,
Actors
Many people have a certain group of actors that they like and will go to see immediately. This may lead into genre as many actors normally appear in one genre in particular. These would not be the main audience to aim towards.
Age
Age of audiences is a massive factor into what movies people watch. Genre really affects this in the fact that different ages generally watch different genres. For example younger audiences got to see childrens movies or animated movies, teenagers and young adults vere towards the action or comedy movies. Middle aged people tend to go for Musicals and classic comedy whereas older genration tend to go for dramas.
Age Rating
Now this one is a legal factor to what audiences go see. The BBFC set guidlines which determine the minnimum legal age required to view a movie. These age ratings are as followed:
Universal: A U film should be suitable for audiences aged four years and over, although it is impossible to predict what might upset any particular child. U films should be set within a positive framework and should offer reassuring counterbalances to any violence, threat or horror.
A PG film should not unsettle a child aged around eight or older. Unaccompanied children of any age may watch, but parents are advised to consider whether the content may upset younger, or more sensitive, children.
Films classified 12A and video works classified 12 contain material that is not generally suitable for children aged under 12.
No one younger than 15 may see a 15 film in a cinema. No one younger than 15 may rent or buy a 15 rated video work.

Our OTS did not contain any violence, nudity, or sexually explicit material but it did hint at gorey murder scenes so I would suggest our film to be at a 12 or 15 age rating depending on the rest of the film's content.
In conclusion I feel that people aged 50-55 would be the target audience, with an interest in crime, thrillers and mysteries.
